Awareness

Community Awareness

The only cure for a brain injury is prevention, which is why raising awareness around brain injury in Lloydminster is so imperative. Unless our community is armed with knowledge, we will continue to see those we love affected by sustained brain injuries.

How we do it.

We focus many of our outreach awareness efforts to the month of June, which is Brain Injury Awareness Month. We go out, and promote helmet safety. We promote Don’t Drink and Drive ads in June. We also give out paper helmets, among many other efforts to promote an awareness of brain injury, and in turn, prevent more brain injuries within our community.

Not only do we reach out to Lloydminster, but we also work on prevention within our organization. We believe that by attending the Life Enrichment Program, the participants minimize their risk of a secondary injury, depression, and addiction. Our program is always educating the participants on brain injury, making them more confident individuals, and preventing more, which in turn leads them to become active members in their community once again.

OUR AWARENESS

Let’s all raise awareness!

Below are just some of the ways we raise awareness about sustained brain injuries in our community, which prevents future injuries.

Community Education

The only cure for an acquired brain injury is prevention. To this end, we invest resources in educating the community on how to avoid sustaining a brain injury in the first place. With this education, we hope to decrease the number of sustained brain injuries in the community as a whole.

Informing Program Guests

Those at the greatest risk of a brain injury might just be those who have already sustained one. We use our programs as a platform to help brain injured individuals navigate the world around them by building both their body and mind. In this manner, we can prevent a second injury.

Public Resource Centre

Our Resource Centre and Online Resource Centre are available to anyone and everyone in our community, completely free of charge. These resources contain a substantial amount of information that the community can use to learn about sustained brain injury and how to avoid it.
