From September 18–20, the Lashburn ball diamonds welcomed teams, families, volunteers and supporters for the 2026 LABIS Charity Slo-Pitch Tournament. Between the games, the home run derby and conversations around the concession, the weekend was a reminder of how many people are willing to show up for their community.
For the Lloydminster and Area Brain Injury Society, that support reaches beyond the diamonds. Events like this help sustain programs, connection and support for adults living with acquired brain injuries and their families.
Congratulations to Our Winners
Congratulations to Caught Looking on their first-place finish, followed by Big Beaver Sliders in second, The Warriors in third and Show Us Your Hitties in fourth. Thank you to every team that participated and helped make the tournament possible.
Our Home Run Derby champions were Brynae from Caught Looking in the women’s division and Ricky from Thunder Buddies in the men’s division. Both took home new bats generously provided by Great Canadian Oil Change. A special thank-you to Melissa for running the derby and to everyone who entered, pitched and cheered.

Our title sponsor, Great Canadian Oil Change, deserves special recognition. Their support included tournament apparel, umpire costs, game balls and the derby prize bats. Whenever another need arose, they stepped up without hesitation.
That generosity took considerable pressure off organizing the weekend and helped make so much possible. Their enthusiasm for supporting LABIS—and their willingness to back that enthusiasm with meaningful financial contributions—was truly inspiring. We are deeply grateful.
The People Behind the Weekend
An especially heartfelt thank-you goes to our board president, Paul, and LABIS staff member Gina. Both worked exceptionally long hours throughout the weekend alongside event coordinator Kelly, helping wherever they were needed.
We also thank Melanie and Kadence for their dedication on Saturday and Sunday; Rachel, Marky and Cade for Saturday breakfast and lunch; Kari and Mark for their lengthy Saturday shifts; Alex for Friday evening; and Laurie and Paul for Sunday breakfast.
Cheryl kept tournament clothing moving, selling us out of hoodies and shirts each day. Andrew helped load and transport equipment on Friday, and Verna generously lent us her enclosed trailer. Thank you also to Brian and our umpires for their work throughout the tournament.
Community Support Worth Celebrating
