What we do
Community Awareness
LABIS works to increase understanding of acquired brain injury and promote brain safety throughout Lloydminster and the surrounding area. We share practical information with program participants, families, caregivers, and the wider community.
Our approach
How we do it
Much of our outreach centres on June, which is Brain Injury Awareness Month. We get out in the community promoting helmet safety and sober driving — including our Don’t Drink and Drive campaign — and hand out paper helmets, all to raise awareness of brain injury and help prevent new injuries in our community.
Through community education and our regular programs, LABIS helps people living with acquired brain injuries stay informed, socially connected, and involved in meaningful activities. We also promote brain injury awareness and prevention throughout Lloydminster and the surrounding area.
Our awareness
Building awareness in our community
Below are some of the ways we raise awareness of brain injury in our community — and help prevent future injuries.
Community Education
LABIS shares information about acquired brain injury, brain safety, and ways people can reduce their risk of preventable injury.
Supporting Program Participants
Our programs help participants better understand brain injury, build confidence, practice everyday skills, and reduce the risk of further injury.
Information and Resources
LABIS provides books, brochures, and other information for individuals, families, caregivers, and community members who want to learn more about acquired brain injury.
